Beginner Level
The Beginner Level is for fencers who have completed the Introductory program, Beginner Fencing Camp, or who fenced before and need to refresh their skills.
Fencers at the Beginner Level work on

Increasing their competence with fundamental footwork and bladwork skills

Using Structured Movements to demonstrate basic offensive and defensive maneuvers

Learning the vocabulary of fencing

Applying the rules of training to create a safe learning environment
Equipment
You'll need your own Sabre and Mask, available from our Members Shop or from online vendors.
How long to spend
Athletes spend between 3 and 6 months at this level, before testing and moving to a higher level of training. Athletes will regularly be evaluated on their capabilities and the coaching staff will recommend when to move up.
Training Structure
Fencers at the Beginner Skill Level spend their time working on technical competencies with Footwork and Targets class. They also can attend Movement and Conditioning sessions to increase their physical literacy.
