Actually, that's called a Sabre!

Fencing is: A Sport...
Yes, that's right, a sport! And a very safe one. In spite of the associated martial history, fencing is one of the safest sports in the entire Olympic Movement, due to the high emphasis on safety and protective equipment, as well as strict rules governing fair play and honest competition.

Sabre is the most exciting, fast-paced and dynamic of the three weapons in Olympic Fencing. It is the weapon of USA Olympic Medalists Mariel Zagunis (two-time Gold, 2004 and 2008) and Sada Jacobson (Bronze - 2004 and Silver - 2008). It is a discipline growing in popularity, due to the visual appeal and athleticism of the style.
Sabre is the weapon we teach primarily at Cutting Edge Fencing Center.

Fencing is: An Art...
With a long and distinguished history. It is one of four sports to be included in every modern Olympic Games. The roots of modern swordplay go back centuries, and lend history and tradition to the endeavors we pursue today.

Our Gold-Star Program consists of three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level entails a series of month-long modules teaching different skills. Each of the modules in a level is independent of the others, and so a skill level can be entered at any month of the year. At the end of each month, a short skills test is given.
Skill-level instruction normally occurs once per week in an hour long group class (some students choose to supplement with private lessons, or to pursue only private instruction). Additionally, "Training Classes" that focus on conditioning and athletic performance are available each week. Open Bouting allows for students to work on sparring techniques.

| Fencing is: A Lifelong Endeavor...
Fencing promotes physical fitness, critical thinking, independence and self-reliance, and is an activity that all ages can enjoy. We start instruction for students at age 8 - and there are different competitive age groups all the way up to 70 plus!

I want to Start Fencing!
Wonderful! When can you start? The first thing you will need to do is sign up for a short series of Introductory Lessons. These are designed to teach you what we call "The Basics" and will allow you to enter into the Bronze Star Level class at the beginning of the following month. We normally conduct these sessions on Mondays 5:30-6:30, but they can be held at different times if more convenient for the student.
You can contact us at 817-428-5599, or info@cuttingedgefencing.com.
Our Standard Beginner Package includes a fencing glove (the only piece of equipment required at the beginning), enrollment fees, and basic preparatory lessons to enter the Bronze Star Level classes. The cost is $115.
Our Select Beginner Package includes everything in the Standard Package (enrollment fees, fencing glove and preparatory lessons), plus an additional month of Bronze Class at a discount, for $175! That is a $20 discount off the first month tuition in the Bronze Class!
